SEVEN HILLS-TOONGABBIE R.S.L. YOUTH SWIMMING CLUB

CLUB RULES; 2013/2014 SEASON.

Welcome to the 2013/2014 season. We have set out our Club rules and information for you.

 

1.      On arrival at the pool each swimmer must report to the Race Secretary or Assistant Race Secretary at the competition table and nominate the events he/she wishes to swim. Nominations will be taken between 7.00pm and 7.15pm. Late nominees cannot be guaranteed a swim.

2.      The Code of Ethics will be read prior to the start of each swim meet.

3.      Swimming commences and the first race is called at 7.30pm sharp

4.      The swimming competition is run on an alternating 2 week events program as follows:

Week A - 100 metre Freestyle; 25, 33, 50 metre Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly

Week B - 25, 33 or 50 metre - Freestyle and Breaststroke; Medley (25 metres of each stroke, with or without butterfly); 200 metre Individual Medley

5.      To qualify for a Freestyle Championship, point score trophy and end of season gift, each child must swim at least 12 of the regular Club meetings during the swim season

6.      Special consideration may be given to “just taught” swimmers with regard to the Championship Qualifications

7.      Point Allocation -

1 point -         is awarded for participating in a particular event

2 points -       are awarded if the competitor equals his/her previous best time

3 points -       are awarded if the competitor better his/her previous best time

8.      Each members point score begins following his/her completion of two (2) time trial swims. Bonus points will be accumulated after 2 swims of each stroke

9.      The competitor will incur a one (1) point penalty against his/her point score for that stroke, for any of the following occurrences -

a.       Nominating an event and then withdrawing in the Marshalling area or at the starting block

b.      Failure to be in attendance when called by the Marshall

10. Swimmers MUST remain in the vicinity of the Marshall. If their names are called and they are not present, they will forfeit their right to swim in that event

11. It is the prerogative of the Race officials to eliminate any competitor from an event if there is justification

12. Swimmers are to remain in the water in their lanes until the Race Secretary advises them to leave the water. Swimmers must exit from the closest pool steps. Failure to do so may incur forfeiture of any points for that event.

13. Memberships:

The annual membership fee is $45.00 for the first child (this includes membership to Seven Hills Toongabbie Wentworthville RSL Club); $35.00 for the second child; $30.00 for the third child. No family will pay more than $140.00, so if you have four (4) or more it will be a set price of $140.00. There is a fee of $4.50 per swimmer per week to cover pool entry costs, payable in arrival at the competition table. All membership applications and fees are to be in the hands of the Treasurer by Tuesday October 29 2013

14. A competitor is eligible to represent only one (1) Youth Club in Representative or Championship competitions, unless permission (in writing) is arranged with the Executive and it is expected that any members representing this Club at a competitive level will wear Club colours (green and gold) or representative costume.

15. Promotion Times:

Swimmers will be advanced to a longer distance upon breaking the following event minimum times:

50 seconds

Swimmers must have two (2) swims better than the promotion time to advance. Should a swimmer take longer than 75 seconds to swim 50 metre freestyle then he/she must revert back to 33 metres.

Swimmers must swim 50 metre freestyle event to qualify for the 100 metre freestyle event. For beginners there is a 3 point encouragement bonus for each stroke, awarded when they advance from 25 metre to 33 metre and from 33 metre to 50 metre. These points are awarded only once, i.e. should a swimmers be reverted back to another distance and then advance again, no bonus points will be given the second time.

16. Heats:

Swimmers are reminded that they are swimming against the clock and should be encouraged. Every effort will be made where possible to arrange heats for similar times.

17.  Age Championships:

The age championships will be held Tuesday March 11 and 18 2014. This event is swum on an age and gender basis for the 25, 33, 50 and 100 metre Freestyle; the 25, 33 and 50 metre Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly; the Medley with/without Butterfly and the 200 metre Individual Medley. Swimmers will be deemed to be the age they are on Tuesday March 11 2014

18. Season Dates:

Season Start:                       Tuesday October 8 2013

Season Break:                      Tuesday December 10 2013

Season re Start:                   Tuesday January 28 2014

Season End:                         Tuesday March 4 2014

 

Championship Weeks:       Tuesday March 11 and 18 2014

 

Presentation Night:            Tuesday April 1 2014

19. Blacktown Aquatic Centre season passes are not valid for pool entry for Seven Hills Toongabbie Wentworthville RSL Youth Swimming Club members. Swimmers MUST pay the $4.00 weekly pool entry fee to the treasurer at the competition table.

20. Swimmers who are returning members of the Club will be automatically placed into the stroke distances they were competing in at the end of their previous season.
